Concept2 and Rowathlon camps are for everyone. Training is designed to ensure that everyone experiences a training week which suits their needs and which prepares them physically and mentally for training and competition. The beauty of these camps is the mix of ages and abilities. This creates an ambience which all people are comfortable with and are inspired by. Lyonheart sports training will see a new multi-sports/rowathlon camp at Banyoles this Spring featuring running and cycling in addition to traditional Concept2 training. There will be specific coaching to enable participants to get the best from their training in preparation for the rowathlons race series and running season.
Training camps are about hard work, but just as importantly, they are about having a good time. Good camps successfully combine the two and Concept2 camps are meticulously prepared to ensure that everyone feels good about themselves, what they do and what they have achieved.
Ergo Training will take place outdoors by the side of the lake or on the Hotel pool terrace. It should be possible (subject to demand and availability of Club facilities and coaching) to take boats on the water, but it may involve extra cost due to hire of boats and any special coaching, if the latter is required. Extra costs are small.
There is excellent running using the perimeter of the lake. The shortest route being 7k and the extended route being 9k. There is also good road hill work on the gentle slopes of Rocacorba or off road at the head of the lake.
Cycling is just superb with all training requirements catered for. It is possible to ride flat and quick to Costa Brava; ride the lovely but forever undulations of El de Estany, or ascend the foothills of the Pyrenees by attacking the infamous Mare de Dieu del Mont. The views from the top are so stunning you will not want to descend, but descend you will, round the many hairpins which eventually link you to the medieval town of Besalu, where you can sip something cool in one of the squares and watch the world of Catalonia go by before spinning the final 13km back to Banyoles. All the roads, including the mountain climbs, are excellent quality.
If you have never rowed, run, cycled or swam in Banyoles when the sun is rising or indeed setting, then a treat surely awaits you.
